Why Do You Need Jesus?

Don't Leave Earth Without Him!

Do you realize we live on a doomed planet?  That we all will die someday, because we are under a curse, because our first ancestors sinned against God, the creator of all life. When that happened, we also ended up with a sin nature, which means we are forever separated from God with no way to be reconciled, because God is holy and can’t be in the presence of sin. And the penalty for sin is death and hell.

However, God loves us, and like a Father, decided the only way to resolve this was to pay that penalty for us Himself. Yes, really.  God who established the penalty, took it for us. But we have to receive it.

To do this, God’s Son (God is three persons in One, which is a mystery) humbled Himself and left the glory of heaven to be born as a human baby about two thousand years ago. He was fully human and fully God.  He demonstrated this thru many miracles and raising people from the dead.

And because He is God, He never sinned, making Him the only human who could free us from the curse of death.

The good news is that Jesus accomplished what He came to do. He lived a sinless life in His 33 years on this earth and died an excruciating death on a cross to pay that penalty for us! And then he rose from the dead Himself, offering forgiveness to anyone who will receive it from Him.

The truth is we can NEVER earn our way into heaven, because everyone sins, and even one sin is enough to keep us out of God’s presence. “All our righteous acts are like filthy rags,” because they are tainted with sin (Isaiah 64:6).

So why do you need Jesus?

You are living under a curse and will eventually die, and Jesus is the only way to overcome this and have eternal life. No matter what you have done or how bad you think things are, He is willing to forgive you, if you will turn to Him and ask.

He does require you to agree to make Him the Lord of your life and to live by His rules. We will never do this perfectly, but we need to try. Some people don’t even want to try, because they want to live by their own rules. But God’s rules are good and designed to help us.

“…to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God…” (John 1:12)

As Alice Cooper recently said after he became a Christian, “I don’t want to be on the ‘highway to hell.’”

I agree!
